Wine
Henschke Mount Edelstone grows in the winery's Mount Edelstone Vineyard, located in the cool climate Eden Valley. Planted in 1912, the Henschkes acquired the vineyard in 1974.
First bottled as a single vineyard wine in 1952, the fruit is dry grown in ancient red brown clay loam soils. The over 100 year old Shiraz vines are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles.
The wine matures in new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads for 18 months before blending and bottling.
Deep crimson, Henschke Mount Edelstone is succulent and poised with rich dark fruit flavours, textured layers, tightly wound acidity and a very long finish.
Long recognized as one of Australia's best Shirazes. Cellaring potential is 30 years.
